Firebird

Preamp

Firebird – tube preamplifier designed to work with line signals (eg from CD, DAC, etc.). Its audio track (100% tube) is based on two ECC88 Gold Lion, 12AU7 EHG or 6H30Pi EHG tubes (optional). In the initial version of this model, there are 6922 EHG tubes, but it is possible to configure it to work with another pair of tubes. Each of the mentioned tube models has its own specific sound and you can choose the kind of triodes that will work in the preamplifier. The preamp has an integrated power supply with quadruple filtration without the use of stabilizing semiconductor devices. The filtration is carried out only on discrete elements using resistors and capacitors. The second integrated section of the system is the power supply for tube heater, which provides the filaments with constant current to ensure the best possible working conditions of the preamplifier. The filtration eliminates completely disturbances of the power network and provides precise working voltage. Toroidal power transformer is made in technology used in audio equipment (elimination of transformer’s hums).

The Firebird preamp has a voltage boost stage and a buffer amplifier in each channel. This allows you to get the optimal gain, and also helps to highlight the maximum character of the tube sound. It also allows you to obtain different types of sound only by replacing tubes. Replacement of tubes is only possible on the equivalent of a given type of lamp used in preamp – 6922 EHG (ECC88), 12AU7 EHG (ECC82), 6H30Pi (6N6P).

The Firebird preamplifier offers natural sound with a wide range of editing possibilities through the use of various tubes. For example, for 6922 EHG tubes, these are ECC88, 6N23P, 6N23P-EW, 6DJ8 etc. The tubes lifetime of this type can reach up to 10,000h. The use of a current buffer at the output allows you to use the preamplifier even with the most demanding power amplifiers. Thanks to this, the preamp can work with both integrated amplifiers and power amplifiers.

Firebird has a solid metal casing (all in the basic version has a mass of about 7 kg), aluminum knobs with a diameter of 30mm, metal, turned legs, solid brand switches, RCA CMC sockets, IEC and a dedicated source selection system and connected receivers. The input signals are switched using mechanical relays (the best signal separation and transparency) located in the immediate vicinity of RCA sockets. This avoids audio signals susceptible to interference go to the selectors on the front panel. The selectors on the front panel only serve to control audio-independent microcontrollers that re-activate the appropriate relays, allowing the user to select the source or receiver. On request it is also possible to use the remote volume and power control.
